House with a VIEW- part 2

House with a View- part 2.

Forget the house for a minute and peek out the window at THAT VIEW! This house rests high on Signal Mountain with gorgeous views of the Tennessee River, downtown Chattanooga & stunning sunsets!

My goals for this space:

1. Create a room that feels fresh, clean & bright.
2. MAXIMIZE the view.
3. Enhance the beauty of the room's other natural elements by making them a feature.

When you have too many natural elements, your home starts to feel like this:

In order to maximize the view, I suggested painting the window trim. By doing this, the heavy window wall seemed to disappear making the view the focus of the room.

Did you know that colors can win awards??? Well, they can and ALABASTER SW7008 is one of the proud recipients.

And now, the AFTER. (Please excuse the poor photo quality. These were taken by an amateur photographer cough cough, me. My friend Paige has agreed to take the after photos from now on. Thanks girl!)

By painting the trim white, the window wall almost disappears so the focus is the beautiful view!

Modern Mountain Home Exterior Makeover

Hi- remember me? It has been a while since my last design blog. Things have been busy with design projects, our sweet daughter being born, moving back to the other side of this great state of TN, keeping up with my 3 big boys, and growing my business while my husband goes back to school.
Life is an adventure and we have so much to be thankful for!!!

Before moving away from the Chattanooga area, I had the pleasure of working with a homeowner on the exterior of her home, creating a big transformation thanks to the POWER OF PAINT!! (Readers note: "the POWER OF PAINT" should be read as if Oprah herself is shouting it with outstretched arms) Its kinda a big deal.

The homeowner, "Mrs. A" already had an idea of what she wanted for the exterior. She has fabulous taste and the interior of her home was pretty much complete and VERY well put together.
So many of my clients have beautiful homes and great style of their own but just need a little hand-holding on their journey to attain a desired space.
When investing in your home, like having the ENTIRE exterior professionally painted, its nice to get a second opinion to be sure it is done right the first time.

Mrs. A hired me to help with selecting an exterior paint color, and I added a few other suggestions to add architectural interest & curb appeal.

During the brainstorming phase, I really enjoy finding inspiration photos. While looking at all my paint swatches, this beauty caught my eye:

I don't want to brag but as you can see, I have a whopping 36 likes on this post. Please, go to IG now and follow me... for the love of my self-esteem.

When working with a client, I always present a proposal with ideas, suggestions, paint scheme and inspiration photos. This house felt a little flat on the garage area, so in the proposal, I suggested an awning to give it some dimension:
